Penetration Grade Bitumen is Bitumen classified using the penetration property. Penetration grading’s basic assumption is that the less viscous the asphalt, the deeper the needle will penetrate. Bitumen which is produced during the process of oxidation of vacuum bottom (the Bitumen production feedstock that derives from distillation tower residue in vacuum oil refineries) at bitumen production unit in a manner that its penetration point (kind of test to indicate the hardness of bitumen) in specified group is classified in different grade of Bitumen

Application

Bitumen 10/20

Bitumen 10/20 is a premium brand that is dark brown or black colour similar to cement-shape semi-solid or viscous liquid form produced by the non-destructive refining of crude oil during petroleum refining. The exact chemical composition of bitumen is dependent on the chemical complexity of the original crude oil and the manufacturing process. Bitumen Penetration Grade 10/20 ensures long-term savings as it allows for a thinner pavement design, which uses up to 30% less asphalt than traditional designs while ensuring extended pavement life.

Applications of Bitumen Penetration 10/20

It is a commonly used paving grade bitumen as it is suitable for road constructions and repairs and also for the production of asphalt pavements. This grade of bitumen is also mainly used in the manufacture of hot mix asphalt for bases and wearing courses because of the properties of very strong viscosity compared to other grades.

Bitumen 90/15

Oxidized bitumen 90/15 comes in the form of an extremely viscous, black and sticky mixture of organic liquids. It is a specially formulated plastic for construction. Manufactured from highly condensed polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, oxidized bitumen is characterized by being a product of great thermal amplitude. It has the flexibility to cold, has no sag at high temperatures and has good adhesion. It can be applied in any kind of work. Oxidized bitumen is available in different grades. Industrial Grade Bitumen 90/15 is resistant to mildly corrosive conditions and is acid alkali proof.

Oxidized bitumen 115/15 is based on petroleum bitumen which is made by blowing bitumen 60/70 by hot air.
